The Great Circle 2013 – “Party with a purpose!”
The Great Circle is not just a gathering for a fantastic weekend of music, community, and inspiration. It is that, but it is also something much more.
As its name subtly suggests, The Great Circle music festival benefits the treasured land encompassed by the Grande Ronde Valley by supporting the Blue Mountains conservancy, a local non-profit organization that aims to do just that. Because of their efforts, delicate ecosystems, critters, important resources and open lands remain intact. With the help of another non-profit, Camp Cascadia, and local band Bitterroot, The Great Circle is now in its 2nd year! So, you can “party with a purpose,” as Camp Cascadia’s slogan encourages, simply by coming to The Great Circle.
Beyond aiming to steward the earth, the festival integrates activities and slight touches that evoke an element of sacredness, welcoming people of all walks to come together in acknowledgement of the power uniting all things.
Some other main goals of The Great Circle are to:
- Promote local businesses & sustainable living practices
- Promote healthy lifestyle choices
- Educate people about the delicate ecosystems that thrive in The Grande Ronde Valley, which was formerly known by the natives as The Valley of Peace. Like the natives, we believe that this valley is a sacred place and want to raise awareness of this while listening to some amazing musical talent and having a wonderful family-friendly time!
